Who We Are

Tania Deltoro

Founder & President

I am the passionate founder of Lucky Whiskers TNR and Rescue, a mission-driven organization born from one unexpected moment of compassion. Once only a dog lover, my heart shifted one late night after a workout when I spotted a single hungry cat meowing at a gas station. That simple encounter stayed with me.  When I returned the next night, there were four cats waiting. I began feeding them, and soon, four cats turned into 30. And with that, my journey into feline rescue began.

My first official rescue, Luna, was found living in a junkyard—too sweet and affectionate for such a harsh environment. Then came Lucky, a sick kitten who wandered into one of the colonies I was TNR’ing. Though my original plan was to treat and return him, his young age and loving personality made him impossible to let go. He became my second rescue—and the namesake of the organization. From there, Lucky Whiskers grew, one life at a time, including two more kittens: Brownie and River.

Though cats now hold a huge part of my heart, dogs have always been part of my life. I rescued my beloved Labrador Oso from an abusive situation and adopted a spirited little Frenchton named Bella. My home is filled with furry love—and my heart with purpose.

I deeply appreciate my rescue team, who I lovingly call my rescue family. Together, we’ve built more than just a rescue—we’ve built a community of love, hope, and second chances.

Daoud family

Volunteers

Hi! We’re the Daoud family, and animals have always held a special place in our hearts. From a young age, each of us felt a deep connection to animals. Whether it was rescuing a stray cat, feeding birds in the backyard, or caring for our own beloved pets. Over the years, that love turned into a passion for giving back.

Our journey into animal rescue started when we realized how many animals were abandoned, abused, or simply overlooked. It was impossible to ignore, and we knew we had to do something. That’s when we found Lucky Whiskers TNR a community of kind, like-minded people working tirelessly to make a difference. We felt right at home.

Helping animals isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. Together, we’re building a world where every animal has a second chance, and we’re so grateful to be part of that mission.

Damia

Volunteer

Hi, I’m Damia, and I joined Lucky Whiskers because I’ve always had a soft spot for cats who don’t have a home. I started volunteering after fostering my first kitten, and I couldn’t believe how much purpose and joy it brought into my life. Each time I help trap, feed, or find a forever home for a cat, I feel like I’m doing something truly meaningful.

To me, Lucky Whiskers is about community. We’re a group of everyday people who care deeply. We show up rain or shine, just to make life better for these animals. It’s amazing to work alongside such passionate volunteers and see the difference we’re making together. Every cat we help is a reminder of how powerful compassion can be.

I have a passion for all my furry babies, especially my kitty, Marble.

Volunteer

My love of animals came from my mom. She instilled a love and respect for animals in me from a young age. I got involved when I saw Cookie hanging out after I had an interview nearby. This colony holds a special place in my heart as sense of belonging as well as feeling fulfilled by seeing our feline friends be happy, healthy, and safe 💙

Bisma

Volunteer

Hi everyone, my name is Bisma and I recently joined Lucky Whiskers TNR.

I believe that all creatures on this planet deserve love and our support. One day I started normally feeding the cats in trays and found a member of TNR. I joined the group to support the cause and taking care of cats and supporting their journey ❤️.

This is the reason I fell in love with my TNR family to support one another and take care of these lovely babies every week. I love all them as they are very dear to my heart. Lucky Whiskers holds a special place in my heart and so does these babies.

I joined the group when I saw a post on the East Brunswick TNR site about an elderly gentleman needing help with a colony of 50 cats. That’s how I met Tania, and she taught me everything about trapping.

For years now, I’ve been feeding that colony. The work comes with heartbreaking moments, but the joy the cats give back is an incredible reward.

I'm especially proud that the mission has inspired my own family. After fostering three of our rescued kittens, my daughter has become a dedicated foster mom in her own community.
